Green Man competition

On 10th September, the Greening Group joins forces with the Horticultural Society at their Summer Show to provide stalls of Home Grown Produce for sale

In conjunction with this event we are running a ‘Design a Green Man’ competition for you to enter. The Green Man is a figure from the ancient past and symbolises rebirth, bounteous harvest and the cycle of growth. Green Men can be seen on the walls of churches and cathedrals and often as the sign for pubs of that name.

Full Rules

    • Be as inventive as possible and use as many local materials as you can

    • It can be a plaque, a 3D mask or a sculpture

    • Size should be a minimum of 60 x 60 cm - but it can be wider and/or taller

    • Display it outside your house in the week before the Summer Show (4th to 9th September)

    • And bring to the Village Playing Field on the 10th at 2:00pm for viewing and prize giving

    • Judging will take place on 9th September when judges will be going round the village to see all entries

    • There are classes for children (up to 10 years), juniors (up to 18 years) and adults/families.

    • Please try to submit your entry by Friday 2nd September, but late entries will be accepted up to the 8th
