St Mark's Church

Completion - Febuary 2013

With the funds for placing 28 PV panels (generating approximately 7kw) on the church roof having been raised and permission from the Diocesan authorities to modify the church being given, it only needed a reasonable break in our recent terrible weather for installation to take place!

St Mark’s Green Project

The Church of England believes the church has a biblical basis for caring for the earth which God made for his glory and his peoples’ enjoyment. Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing the earth and its peoples today, and will impact on every aspect of human life and the natural environment. The church must take this challenge seriously and respond locally to the global climate crisis.

The good news is that we can cut down substantially on energy by using alternative energy sources. Here in Cold Ash we have decided to do this by installing solar panels on the church roof. It is an ambitious project, and we would like to involve the whole community.
